Trappers´ Corral

Trappers Corral is the association of people interested in the history of North America in years 1700 -1890. Our activities are sighted on these interest areas and periods:

- settlers (the first colonist in the wood) 1700 - 1820

- voyagers (personnel of fur companies - traders, hunters, builders of the forts, muchers and mainly canoe boatmen) 1740 - 1850

- curieres des bois (the wood tramps hunters and traders with French root) 1700 - 1770

- long hunters (independent hunters) 1760 - 1820

- mountain men (or trappers, independent fur hunters, beaver hunters) 1822 - 1840

- scout snd buffalo hunters (scouts, tracers and buffalo hunters) 1860 - 1890

- soldiers of period French - Britain colonial war and American Revolution War, namely American Militia, Rogers Rangers, French Marine) 1740 - 1800

The training of the shooting with historical
arms - a part of practical activity.

The form of the activities is "Living History". Our members are theorists and practitioners all at once. In the theoretical part we are concerned on acquisition of most number informations of period and area, namely study of the history, transations of foreing literature (specially american) and own inquiry. In the theoretical part we are concerned on mostly authentic equipment, dresses, armament and their practicaly exploitation, for example at camping. One of parts of the activities is hand-making of dresses, arms and other items, shooting, cooking of historical food etc. Corral prepare for his members a few times of years stylish meetings, named Rendezvous, lectures, and have own library with all available literature.

Trappers Corral participate on activities of other czech corrals of Westerners International and other similar groups and organisations. For his activity was awarded twice by "Hesd Up Award" of American Western History Assotiation for year 1996 and 1997.

Trappers Corral was found in Prague on September 27th 1991 and on Westerners International was initiate in Febraury 12th 1993 with number 125. Number of members is about 130 and have activity on all area of Czech Republic. Members are registered either as individual members or as collective members (club). In this time we have these clubs:
